Fire Breaks Out On Tracks At Metro-North Station In Westchester, Causing Delays

A small fire broke out on the tracks of a Metro-North station in Westchester, leading to delays for riders during the morning commute.

The fire was first reported at 8:26 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, on a third rail at the Scarsdale Metro-North station, MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said. The incident led to delays of approximately 25 minutes on the Harlem Line.

Metro-North said the initial incident was dealt with, but they’ve been seeing residual delays of up to 20 minutes throughout the morning. “Delays are expected to dissipate with the conclusion of the morning rush hour,” Donovan said.
